Time Wasters: Surviving in Space, Tornado Footage, and Political Watches

  • I've been watching Madame President pushing Cylons out the airlock and into outer space (come on -- Battlestar Galactica!). How long do they survive? I wondered. My friend Jack K. had the same question and it's answered on the How Long Could You Survive in the Vacuum of Space? site.

  • It's Your Turn has a long, long list of board games -- chess, backgammon, Othello, and more. You'll need to register in order to play.

  • Who left the screen door open!!? Swat as many flies as you can...
  • Watch as a bank camera from the First State Bank in Parkersburg, Iowa, captures footage of a deadly tornado ripping through the bank. [Thanks, Christopher N.]
  • Feeling your political oats and want to prove it? Wear an Election Watch. No, I'm not joking. One watch has McCain with a tight-lipped sorta smile; the other has the grinning face of Obama. Looking carefully, you'll see neither has a flag lapel pin and each is on a background appropriate to his party. They're both waving their right hands in a oh-I'm-glad-to-see-you way; the other hand is out of sight, but I'm guessing at least two of the fingers are crossed. The watches are self-winding (you can do an occasional wave, too) and sure to impress your like-minded friends. (Me, I got one just to aggravate my politically conservative brother-in-law and nephew.)
