TiVo Tacks Ads Onto Shows

TiVo has a new, er, feature which involves adding ads to the screen you get after watching a recorded show. (Via Mark Evanier, who says "TiVo is like that friend you love even though he keeps doing things that you wish he didn't do." Ouch.)

Comments

We buy TiVo because we do not want any advertising. If Tivo wants advertising there is no need to buy their product.

At least TiVo showed a small sense of propriety by placing the ad at the end of the recorded program and not embedding the ad within the program itself without any way to avoid it. I don't yet have a TiVo. If they encroach any further into what I consider a sort of virtual "personal space" (how I choose to view programs) then I may never buy one. Right now I use a computer as a DVR and have no real reason to get TiVo.
