Coming On Monday (Probably!): A Windows-Based Treo

So Microsoft, Palm, and Verizon have announced that they're holding a press conference together in San Francisco on Monday morning. Among those present: Bill Gates and Ed Colligan, the CEO of Palm. The topic remains secret, but it seems an extraordinarily safe bet that it'll be to announce a
Windows Mobile-based Treo that will be available from Verizon.
Still unknown: What this means for the future of Palm OS-based Treos. Will a new one ship simultaneously with the Windows version? Or--thinking pessimistically if you're a Palm OS fan--will a new one
ever ship?
I'll be at the event and will do my best to blog the news as it happens.
Between this news and Apple's move to Intel chips, this has certainly been a big year for traditional rivals making nice and working together--and for mashups of competing software and hardware platforms...
