Going Old School: Wood Guitar Meets Guitar Hero

starpex.jpg

The company Peak Products is introducing a new gaming accessory for fans of guitar controllers associated with games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. It is called the Starpex and what makes it cool is the fact it is full sized and made with wood.

An Electric Guitar You Wouldn't Want to Smash

This $180 guitar controller, available in late August, is described by Peak as sporting a "high-gloss, lacquered finish with a hardwood body, neck and headstock." The guitars are reportedly handcrafted by "a leading guitar manufacturer" and will work with the PlayStation 2 and PlaysStation 3. Sorry Xbox 360 fanboys ? no wood guitar love for you here.

Peak Products has put a good number of features into the Starpex. You've got dual wired/wireless capabilities via a 15-foot cable or 2.4GHz wireless connection, one button access to in-game features such as Star Power and Overdrive, an "optimized whammy bar," ten fret buttons and an "enhanced strum bar."

The coolest feature though I think is the guitar's modular design, which lets me pull out the electronics so they can be slipped into new guitar bodies. I wonder how well that would go with this Kiss Guitar?
