Video: Multi-Touch in Windows 7

Besides a warm and fuzzy fireside chat with Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, moderated by the godfather of tech journalism Walt Mossberg at the All Things D conference, a cool demonstration of one particular Windows 7 feature took place - its multi-touch ability.

The Windows 7 multi-touch touchscreen interface is being regarded as one of the most interesting new features of the next-generation Windows operating system. It allows multiple fingers to be used together for a unique way to control specific applications like photo-editing and more.

Is Muli-Touch is a Gimmick?

While many view multi-touch as the next big computer interface feature I don't. Sure Apple's iPhone and the MacBook Pro line of laptops that feature multi-touch interface is cool along with Microsoft's Microsoft Surface technology - but is this feature really that spectacular?

I see multi-touch as more of a gimmick than something truly useful. It is fun to use, interesting and will definitely move units based upon the initial "wow-factor," but would a person really be ready to trade in the trusty mouse? Only time will tell.
