Developers at Mozilla worked overtime and released a new beta version of the Firefox browser days ahead of schedule. The Firefox 3.0 Beta 2 became available to developers yesterday who will comb over the release looking for bugs and ways to improve the code before the browsers final release expected early next year. Here is a story on the news.
This latest Firefox release does have some new features not included in the first beta release. However at its core this Firefox release is nearly identical to the previous release which I wrote about last month.
Core features for Firefox 3 include beefed up security, improved ease-of-use features, improved Web page rendering, and a promise of better overall browsing performance. As with the previous beta, this release is not ready for prime time and does not support Firefox add-ons, according to Mozilla. That said, I found the latest release much more stable than the previous beta.
You can download the beta here.
Some new Firefox 3.0 Beta 2 features include:

Location bar and auto-complete: To use this feature just type in all or part of the title, tag, or address of a Web page to see a list of matches from your history and bookmarks

Smart Bookmarks Folder: Quickly access your recently bookmarked.

New Download Manager: A revised download manager makes it much easier to locate downloaded files.
Other touted features new to this beta release include better handling of the programs memory which will improve system and browser performance and a feature called Place Organize which allows you to more easily organize and search through bookmarks and browsing history.
