We've all used software that we just wish hadn't been "improved" by unnecessary features, prompts for updates, and all around bloat.
Read our story Before They Spoiled the Software for more...and vote here for the software you wish they'd never touched.
ACDSee 3.0 was wicked fast and just popped up whenever you clicked on a picture. It's never gotten even close to that original speed.
I'm kind of shocked that folks think Adobe Reader 5.0 or earlier is desirable. Sure, newer versions became increasingly more bloated and slower to load and glacial to install ... but they're now just approaching the hyperlinked ease of navigation HTML had in 1990.
Gaim (now Pidgin). The old Gaim never ONCE crashed on me (on Linux or Windows). I was excited to get the new version as soon as it came out. Now, every time I install a new version of Pidgin I revert back to 2.0.2, and even that crashes. Very sad :(
OS: WINDOWS XP
I agree with PaulIndyment. XP should never have been 'improved' into bloated, unreliable, intrusive, buggy Vista

MusicMatch was the best software to retag, find art covers, listen to songs, etc...All for free and forever (ahum!), just for the price of the software disc. Now since Yahoo bought it, they force you to upgrade and most of the good stuff is gone or you have to pay in a year basis. Hopefuly I own several hard disc copies of the good old MM that I bought in the past and keep on reinstalling every time Yahho upgrade it without my consent. Those greedy guys!
