Digg Releases New Services

digg.jpgSocial bookmarking site Digg is announced it will roll out new services it says will help you discover and share content on its site. The services include user profiles, a dedicate image section, Digg Alerts, and a story suggestion tool. Not all services will be available immediately.

The first service to launch is User Profiles. This feature which is expected to launch today will give registered Digg users more ways to personalize their Digg identity and interact with Digg Fiends on the network, the company says.

Digg says next month it will add a dedicated image section. Digg already has sections dedicated to videos and podcasts.

Another feature called Digg Alerts is slated for launch before the end of the year, according to Digg. This feature gives you the ability to create daily or weekly e-mail alerts on subjects of interest to you. A Digg Alert could include a summary of stories on a specific topic or stories suggested by Friends, Digg says.

Another feature slated to launch before next year is a recommendation engine. This tool will recommend stories to you based on what other people with similar interests have "dugg" up.

A Digg-produced video narrated by Rose outlines all the new features.

Here are some screen shots of the new user profile and communication features.
