The Mozilla folks have already got a patched version out to take care of their end of the uniform resource identifier (URI) handler security flaw that we've all been writing about for the past couple of weeks.
Mozilla developers initially thought Firefox only played a secondary role in the demonstration exploit, which uses IE to open a Firefox session and then sends Firefox invalid data, causing a systems crash that could result in a cracker running programs or his or her own choice on your PC. Nonetheless, they fixed their end of things.
However, further testing last week showed that Firefox also has a problem similar to IE's.
The IDG News Service reported this morning that bug has also now been fixed with the release of Firefox 2.0.0.6.
You can get the update at the Firefox download page.
Additional info on this security flaw and its fix is available in Mozilla's security advisory.
Still no word from Microsoft about its end of things, and Patch Tuesday is still two weeks off.
