Free E-Mail Aggregator for Your Cell Phone

Setting up e-mail on a standard cell phone is often more trouble than it's worth, and it usually involves additional fees from your carrier. Flurry, a San Francisco-based startup, offers a solution. I met up with the guys behind this mobile application at CTIA this week.

Flurry provides a free Java-based application that aggregates your e-mail messages from multiple accounts--such as AOL, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, and any POP3 or IMAP e-mail client--and sends them to your handset. Here's what the inbox looks like:

The app is compatible with Java phones (many devices support Java, including Motorola Razrs) and requires a data plan to transmit the information.

To use the app, you first sign up with Flurry. You'll receive a text message on your cell phone that prompts you to download and install the app. In addition to e-mail, you can import contacts from your e-mail accounts. You can even set up an RSS feed reader to view news summaries or full stories on your phone.

Not completely sure if mobile email for consumers will be a high priority. I have tried Flurry, but prefer http://www.movamail.com. Its faster and easier to setup and use.

We have tried numerous products (anything except spend a fortune on Blackberry). We tried Flurry and couldn't get it set up (not sure about the works like a charm review!!). We laos emailed them from their web site for help and still haven't heard back! We also tried MOrange (had several unexplained technical problmes and support from Singapore was poor), Openhand (expensive and requires quite a big upheaval in the way you owrk and eventually settled on OfficeWRX for its ease of set up and use. OfficeWRX doesn't yet support Contacts and Calendar but we are assured this is coming soon. Hope this helps. www.officewrx.com

To me Flurry seems to be one of the best free cell phone email programs. I tried several and had a look at others:
- Flurry: works well, includes rss, no chat
- MOrange: includes chat, rss and many other options, but still buggy, not sure whether it will stay free
- Berggi: didnt work well, bad website
- OfficeWRX and MovaMail are NOT free
I wonder why in general quality is so low on this software. I was hoping for an application that also includes IM (chat), but I didnt find one yet...
For IM there are:
- IMHere: can send emails but only to adresses in your buddylist
- Nimbuzz: works well, cheap calls, but no email
- Jargong: includes rss, no email
- Mig33: chat, cheap calls, no email
other suggestions? where is the perfect tool???

After comparing a few clients found flurry mail to be a good choice, used it for a while but then came across Tricastmail where sign up and download was straight forward. www.tricastmedia.com I found Tricast Mail to be the fastest solution along with the best user interface and allowing for rich text email, advanced folder management and context- sensitive, auto hide menu system. Still using Tricast mail ;)
