The earliest customers of Apple TV report they've been notified by Apple today to watch for a shipment. The first units of the much-anticipated consumer device are expected to arrive this week.
Introduced at Macworld Expo in January, Apple TV is described as a bridge between the computer (a Mac, natch--though not exclusively) and the home entertainment system.
Specs include connections for USB 2, Ethernet, HDMI, component video, and optical audio. Apple TV also supports three popular wireless standards: 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n, so you'll be able to wirelessly stream content from Macs or PCs running iTunes 7 to a TV. Reported price tag is $299, and Apple had previously said it would ship in mid-March.
