An Apple technical support document confirms that none of the company's Windows applications are yet compatible with Windows Vista, according to Jonny Evans of U.K. Macworld.
News that iTunes for Windows isn't yet ready for Microsoft's new operating system emerged earlier this week, with Apple warning PC folk to hold off on a Vista upgrade pending the release of updates.
Today's tech support document names a range of additional Windows applications from Apple that don't support that new operating system.
These include: QuickTime, the iPod shuffle reset utility, Bonjour for Windows, AirPort for Windows, the iDisk utility, AppleWorks for Windows, and Apple Software Update for Windows. The stand-alone iPod updater for iTunes 6 for Windows also isn't ready for Vista.
No schedule for Vista compatibility has been given. Microsoft has said it has a team working with developers such as Apple to establish support for its new operating system.
I installed Vista Ultimate 32-bit over the weekend (3 February 2007) and I also installed iTunes and have not had any issues with it. What is the specific issue that Apple is warning people of? Or are they just trying to keep people from upgrading to Vista? I will have a look at QuickTime to see if it functions ok. It installed but I have not had a reason to use it yet.

I installed the ipod+itunes setup CD on a fresh installation of Vista Home. All seemed to work ok, until cycling power, at which point "Missing Operating System" is as far as the PC would boot. Reinstalling Vista Home fixed the problem, until reinstalling the ipod+itunes setup CD. The issue reoccured. So, I'm waiting until Apple issues their updates.
Windows Vista Ultimate installed and the Quicktime player version 7.1.5 will not play a .mov file. The sound is OK but the picture just freezes after a second or two of running and never comes back. Truely broken. Have pro license too.
