Posted by Kim Saccio-Kent | Tuesday, December 12, 2006 6:00 AM PT

This just in from Tokyo: Fujitsu has developed a whopping 300GB hard drive for use in notebooks and video recorders, according to IDG Bureau Chief Martyn Williams.

The drive, the largest in its class, is a 2.5-inch type with a serial ATA interface. It offers a 50 percent jump in capacity over Fujitsu's current largest hard drive of this type, the company announced.

Fujitsu said the new drive will be available starting in late February. The company hopes to sell 1.5 million of the drives during fiscal 2007, which runs from April to March 2008.

Very cool. I'll keep that in mind when I get a laptop.
