Bill Gates for President?

Would you vote for Bill Gates to be the next US president? Scott Adams, author of the Dilbert cartoons, said he would on his blog. The idea seems to have legs, as there is now a whole site dedicated to convincing Bill Gates to run, and convincing you to vote for him.

Why would you do that? Well, the site gives 4 reasons. He's rich, he's rational, he isn't selfish, and he knows management. If you've got more reasons, or just something to say about the idea, you can submit comments through the site blog. And, if you want to promote the idea, they have graphics that you can add to your own site.

My colleague over at Network World is skeptical about the idea of Bill Gates being president. What do you think... would you vote for him?

I think that his status as head of Microsoft would work against him.

If he implements a CTRL-ALT-DEL for government, sure!

In a hearbeat, seriously. He practically already runs a government and is responsible for making partners with other companies, so that would translate to peace-making with other countries and actually having allies...wow, that sounds better than how we are now.

You guys are nuts! He is way too much of a wuss to be pres. Terroroists and other states enemys would walk all over him. Those 4 reasons above sound like good qualifications to run a software compnay not the worlds most powerful country. He already runs a government? So your telling me running a software company is the same thing as controlling a country? Making allies with other countries is not as easy as making buisness partners. The real world and the buisness world are far from the same thing. Its alot easier to convince a guy in a suit to work with you to make money than it is to convince a guy to stop bombing your country.

It would REALLY be nice to have someone who is competent running this country. I think everyone but the 30 percenters are sick and tired of being governed by a man incapable of learning from mistakes, a man who's depended on his daddy and his daddy's connections ALL his life, a man so stupid he thinks he can win his so-called "war on terrorism" by occupying Iraq.

You can't fix stupid.

Can you say:
CONGRESS.SYS Corrupted: Re-boot Washington D.C (Y/N)?
