A few days after we blogged about a worm permeating a MacDonald's MP3 player promotion, Apple is warning that a small number of iPod Nanos and iPod Shuffles sold after September 12 have been shipped carrying the Windows RavMonE.exe virus. Security company Sophos calls this threat the W32/RJump-A spyware worm, which may try to write itself to other mapped drives connected to a PC. PC Advisor has the full story here.
Apple's support page on the subject recommends that Windows users run a virus program with the iPod and other external storage devices connected to the PC so that they get scanned.
