Big Home Theater Trade Show Next Week

logoarea.jpgThe Custom Electronic Design & Installation Assocation (CEDIA) trade show, which will take place in Denver next week, is the second-biggest trade show of the year for televisions, home theater equipment, and home automation (behind CES, of course). On second thought, because it's held before the holiday buying season, and it usually doesn't have much of the weird stuff we see at CES, it might be even more important than CES for these products.

We've got a few people--myself included--covering the show. So here's a question for you: Do you have any questions for the vendors exhibiting at the show?

I'm going to be talking to several television manufacturers, and I'm going to be asking every one of them about support for CableCards, the tiny cards that, when inserted into a TV or other device, eliminate the need for a cable set-top box. I want to know, when will all of their TVs have it, when will they start offering two-way CableCards, and what is their ongoing commitment to the technology? We've heard rumors that the technology is in trouble, thanks to recalcitrant cable companies, who'd rather you rent *their* box and/or DVR instead of some other company's.

Other possibly interesting topics: high definition radio, which comes to mind because I was listening to static-riddled FM radio this evening (I'd love to see a home theater receiver with HD Radio and satellite radio built in); Blu-Ray and HD-DVD (even though the whole stupid story disgusts me); and more 1080p televisions.

So, are we missing anything you'd like to see us cover?
