McAfee today released the
public beta of Falcon, the code name for its next-generation security platform. This subscription-based platform will compete with Microsoft's recently launched Windows Live OneCare and Symantec's Norton 360, which was codenamed Genesis and is due out later this year.

Just how differently these subscription-based services will function from traditional security software is unclear, aside from the fact that they all are expected to include PC maintenance and backup utilities. I'm trying out the Falcon beta now, so look back at Today @ PC World later today.
