Lots of projectors have integrated wireless technology--with mixed results. And some, but not all, offer it as an option. Here at InfoComm, NewSoft is showing its wireless presentation systems that can turn any projector in a wire-free wonder.
Already shipping is the $280 WMS 100 Image Wireless Projector Adapter. This unit takes broadcast screen-captured images from any ethernet or 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi PC or notebook, and outputs it to multiple SVGA/XVGA projectors equipped with the WMS 100 receiver and NewSoft's Presto WMS 2.5 software (sorry Mac fans: Windows operating system required). The unit transmits content at up to 15 frames per second on average for 802.11 a/g users--which means you can even share PowerPoint files with embedded animation practically in real time. The WMS 100 Image has WEP encryption/decryption as well, so you can protect your wireless network.
The next-generation model, introduced at InfoComm, is the WMS 200 Image/Video. This version adds support for both screen-captured images and MPEG videos (encoded in MPEG-1 and MPEG-2). This version is expected to ship in the fall.
