Apple and Nike's iPod Sport Kit

Posted by Narasu Rebbapragada | Tuesday, May 23, 2006 9:42 AM PT

Apple and Nike announced today the Nike+iPod Sport Kit. This wireless sensor sits embedded in specific models of Nike sneakers and transmits workout information--such as running pace, distance traveled, and calories burned--to your iPod Nano. Plus, Apple will have some sort of Nike section on iTunes Music Store for downloading music mixes and the like.

The kit costs $29 and will be available within 60 days. Right now it works with the Nike+ Air Zoom Moire ($129 with the kit). The kit is for the iPod Nano only. This is not Nike's first foray into the portable music player market. Remember the S3/Rio PSA Play 120?

I'm a little unclear on the rest of the details. As Nike answers my questions and uploads photos, I'll add that info here.

hey, i run all the time! I have an ipod mini though. This would be cool if it would work with my ipod. The shoes are not that attractive they have no style what so ever.
