MySpace Adds Members-Only IM

Keeping tabs on friends just got a little easier--at least, it did for MySpace members. The popular blogging/community site has just soft-launched its own instant messaging service. Among its starting features, MySpaceIM promises "instant alerts for all requests, messages, and comments."

I can see how this could be useful in some instances--say, if a nifty local band sent out a quick note about a surprise concert--but I'm not sure about I'd want to use it daily. Finding out in e-mail that someone's responded to a blog posting is fast enough for me. But then, I'm pretty distant from their target demographic. MySpace users, does MySpaceIM appeal to you?
