I'm glad they changed the name, seeing as there was absolutely nothing Revolutionary about the Revolution.

OMG it has a motion-sensing controller. Been there. Done that. Anyone remember the Power Glove?! Nintendo's "innovations" are all based on gimmicks and cashing in on nostalgia.

the power glove did not sense motion, at least not in this way. you moved your fingers and that acted as a button, not nearly as advanced as this. hardly been there or done that. you sound like a fanboy but what kind... guesses anyone? im gonna say sony.

The control is not the only feature this Wii has. The backwards compadablity goes way all the way back, not like the Xbox 360 or the PS3. Soon you will be wanting to play it as soon as the Wii is released.

I'm not really that bothered about the virtual console, i'm only gonna be downloading a few of the old games really.

from the snes ill get mario allstars and kart, and the n64 i dunno, i would have bought all of rares games but diddy kong racing and dk64 are the only ones that will be on there.

Guys Who cares what the name is, Gameplay and innovation is all that matters. This will be the cheapest system of the 3 next gen consoles, It has the same amount of graphics and Red Steel looks awesome, who doesn't want to be a samurai on Wi-Fi and go around swinging the controller as the sword moves COME ON! It's just a name. Stop argueing.

(For those who live in Vallejo, California during the late 90's know about this movement.)

My best thought for the name could be WIrless Inovations. Thus describing an evolution of gaming and showing that no longer will the laws of gaming be kept in a stasis field of basic movement but an expanding array of a whole load of added control.

Now i'm obviously a fan of nintendo but over my years i have realised that fighting for it is stupid. If you just exist for good gaming then you understand that differences are nothing really someone needs to keep the past, and if the Wii fails then only one thing can be said, we learnt from our mistakes.

I agree with Wii not being such a great name, maybe for the Japanese it is catchy but when you intend to target a world population maybe the best idea is to aim your bow at the world and keep the name revolution.

Playstation WAS a good name 11 years ago. Change the freakin' name already. Imagine if Nintendo kept the same name for all their systems. NES, SNES, NES VIRTUAL, NES 64, NES CUBE, NES WII, NES PORTABLE, NES PORTABLE POCKET, NES PORTABLE COLOR, NES PORTABLE ADVANCE, NES PORTABLE ADVANCE SP, NES PORTABLE MICRO, NES PORTABLE DS, NES PORTABLE DS LITE. Yeah it would have never worked. Sony should take a hint.

Sony realizes the value of cashing in one the name. "Playstation" is a powerful name in the video game industry, and it makes sense to simply label the next iteration of it by it's generation. Sony doesn't need gimmicks like Nintendo does. They don't need to fool you into buying a PS3 with a weird name, they just sell the system.

Nintendo seems to like to sell everything BUT the system. It's all smoke and mirrors.

Nintendo is a COMPANY name, not an actual product. It was not the Nintendo. It was the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Everyone just called it the Nintendo. Nintendo was in the name, but there was more to it. Just like Playstation. Playstation is a product. We don't say, I want to play Sony. We say I want to play Playstation. Nintendo made the Nintendo Entertainment System, and Sony makes the Sony Playstation. I'm not sure what you mean by "gimmicks". But the way I see it, if it weren't for Nintendo's gimmicks, the Playstation wouldn't be here. It was only an add on to the SNES, but Nintendo realized Sony was trying to screw Nintendo over, so they broke the project. Thus, Nintendo gave birth to the Playstation.

The nintentdo has lost its rudder with the game cube. I think however they are going to get it right the "wii" this time. There is nothing wrong with nostalgia. We all started on this system.
