E3: Added Details on Microsoft's Xbox 360

At Microsoft's E3 event, company executives saved the biggest news for last: The Xbox 360 team is working with Square Enix to bring the popular Final Fantasy game series on the Xbox platform.

Although this marks an important milestone for Microsoft's gaming console, it's old news on other platforms. Final Fantasy XI--the forthcoming title for Xbox 360--has been available on both PC and PlayStation 2. (What will be really new is the forthcoming Final Fantasy XII on PS3).

Microsoft also unveiled a bunch of other titles for Xbox 360, including Dead or Alive 4 (which will be exclusive on 360), Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 3, Gears of War, Project Gotham Racing 3, NBA 2K6, Madden NFL 2006, and The Godfather The Game.

While Microsoft officially unveiled Xbox 360 on MTV last week, at E3, the company announced additional details about the hardware (below), including backward compatibility (one of the most common features across the three consoles--Xbox 360, Sony PS3, Nintendo Revolution) with current Xbox games.

xbox 360.jpg

Microsoft executives also expanded on the 360's versatility. It will enable users to stream on-demand content such as MP3s and movies. J Allard, corporate vice president and chief XNA architect, even alluded to the 360's potential compatibility with competing gadgets such as Apple's IPod and Sony's PSP.

Allard went on to describe the added extras to the Xbox Live service, which will come in Silver and Gold subscriptions. Both editions will have a marketplace feature where users can download episodic content such as new game levels, maps, and weapons. Players will be able to video chat with other players, as well as send and receive text and voice messages. There will even be an area where gamers can design and sell their own stuff, such as T-shirts.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers will include a Spectator Mode where players can watch their friends and the community's top players on live spectator feeds, get up-to-the-minute ticker-tape information when friends break records, and compete with anyone, anytime.

The X-Box 360 may not be the most powerful of the next gen gaming systems, as the PS3 may have more processing power, but all the extra features the X-Box 360 offers may give it the edge it needs to beat sony.
I want to see what the PS3 have to offer as far as extras go as it is now clear that processing power is not the main factor any more. Unless the PS3 can compete online or Nentendo creates somthing really appealing then I fear that microsoft may take over yet another market.

Actually, the X-Box had the superior graphics processing power out of the 3 current consoles. In my opinion, if consumers can either find the new style of controllers appealing or just get over it, the PS3 will win the much anticipated console war. I also believe that Microsoft and Nintendo made a bad move by not
switching to high density media disks (HD-DVD, BR-DVD) or a proprietary media, like what Nintendo did with the Game-Cube. Anyone remember Beta??? Anyone???

Although there has been no officical comments about a difinitive price for the 360, I would also hazard a guess at around $300USD. This way Microsoft can produce a profit while staying in the market with Sony and Nintendo, as Microsoft could not cut production costs by integrating hardware (like the HD) in the manufacturing and assembly processes like Sony did, and probably will.

I think that xbox 360 is the most superior to the three consoles. With better graphics and more to do with it it should be able to be more interactive with gamers and that is what i think that xbox gamers will like the most. I wanted to know why is sony waiting to sell their product until after the xbox 360 is sold? Is it to enance the PS3 to try and make it better than the xbox?

I'd like to see Xbox match PS3 with the HD space. Sony with 53g and Xbox 20g. Also I hope Xbox offers the DVR option with the HD like PS3 will. Just my two cents.

Notice why Microsoft decided to utilize the current standard DVD format and snuffed the HD-DVD? It would most likely increse the price of manufacturing the system, as Microsoft also would most likely need a 3rd party manufacturer of the drive.

Sony is crap and any serious gamer knows it. They will start their console out at 400+ dollars many months after xbox has been out. Which will make the xbox look better by a price comparison. Nintendo may not have the most powerful system this round, but they always come through on the software which is, as we all know, the most important part of a game console. I'll buy a Nintendo because I love those guys, and an xbox because perfect dark and halo are awesome. Sony can bite me because they aren't getting this guys hard earned cash :) (although props to Killzone 2, WOW...still hate sony though)

The Xbox 360 is already showed us how powerful it truly is and how powerful it has the capability to be. I've bought the Nintendo DS and the Nintedo Gamecube and was thoroughly dissapointed with each. All the games are basically meant for five years olds. It's pathetic. So I really don't think i'll even be looking at the Nintendo Revoultion just because of the poor games they've came out with in the past. I think the real battle lies between the Xbox 360 And the PS3. I just wish we knew more about each system so we could compare fairly.

What I want to know is how much the X-Box 360 will be in British pounds.

And what's the big deal with Sony? I always thought that the X-Box had way better graphics than PS2.

I think that anyone who buys a nintendo product is really stupid because the system itself is really good but they never test it like what ps2 did and xbox. I would have to say as an owner of all 3 systems I like the ps2 better and expect even more with the ps3 and xbox 360 since they have a really good system I have heard of and with there history they will have some pritty kick *** games for each and maybe nintendo will take notes.

What's this big problem with the XBox 360 HD? 20GB is more than enough, as the first one only had *GB, I'be had mine for a good two years, never deleted a file and still have more than 50,000 blocks of memory left!

I would hope that Sony, Micro, or whoever else steps up to the marketplace will utilize the technology that is available at this time and remove the "Loading" text to be removed from my plasma each time I complete a level. End users are no longer wanting to wait while something is loading. I own all but still end up on my Dell XPS. Rock on gamers!

Already have a 360 on pre-order... HOWEVER as much as I love my current XBOX and dig the 360, the PS3 has superior processing power this round, period. It has 8 cores vs. the 3 cores of the 360...(1TFLOP vs. 1.8TFLOP) also the capabilities of the PS3 are sick! As much as I wanted the PS3 to suck, it doesn't. Of course it will take EXPENSIVE games to use all that power. So M$ will probably have cheaper titles :)

The current XBOX is just hitting its limits, and the next console is only 7 months away. So does it make sense for PS3 to be such a powerhouse? I wouldn't want to pay for power that won't be effectively used since consoles update every 5yrs...

The 360 will be the best buy for younger gamers this time... with all the video chat and "friends" capabilities... which is fine. For older married guys who talk to their friends maybe once a month, the LIVE component has less luster. I'd prefer the clock cycles. The other biggie for me is ease of access to my network and media, w/out needing other proprietary devices (i.e. XP Media Center Edition PC). M$ hasn't been too specific yet as I've heard that any XP machine will work w/the 360s media capabilities, but also alot of "XP Media Center PC" talk. I'm not buying a new PC just to get XP Media Center interactivity/streaming capability.

Honestly they're both great machines w/alot of promise. I'm getting my 360 first, but I'll be picking up a PS3 at some point.

anyways, im all out for the 360, i think its gonna dominate, plus it has halo 3 to look forward too. final fantasy is also coming to the 360, and final fantasy was the only reason i ever considered buying a ps2. the ps3 still shows promise and i do think it will give the 360 a run for its money, but i know that i will be getting a 360 1st :)

I can 't believe PS3 might loose it that bad to the 360 because Ps2 also had it's own capabilities with the first xbox, but xbox now dominated by stealing some of those capabilities and turning them into the 360,I think it's going to be off the hook and Boost the video game industry a whole lot.Ps3 is not going to make much progress like the Ps2.Sony is out of ideas.

Final Fantasy XI is coming to Xbox, which is old. And Final Fantasy XII and XIII is coming to PS3. Plus the PS3 abilities to use two 1080p HD screens is going to blow the 360 out the water, the processing power of the PS3 is much greater then any home computer in existence today. I think people don't understand what the PS3 will bring, movie like quality CG rendered in real time!!! AWESOME!!! PS3 ROCKS!!!

Considering how powerful the ps3 is with its Cell Processor it definitely not going to be cheap, probable close to $600 or more. While, Xbox 360 will debut with a cheaper price. Also you get more perks with Xbox making it more versatile. Not to mention getting Xbox Live - Silver Edition for free.

Jeeze it's a fanboy orgy in here. At least I can say that the Xbox fanboys have good arguments, the PS fanboys can't even write at a 5th grade level. I guess we know the demographics Xbox: 16+ higher than a 90 IQ, PS: 15- Lower than 75 IQ, you crazy bunch of window lickers. I've played the Xbox AND the PS2 and when the Xbox 360 comes out I'll probably sell the PS2 and games for it. It has better games, better programers and more cutting edge design ideas. Not only that but Microsoft has said the xbox won't go over $399, but that they want the price to "be affordable enough to have one in every household." Last but not least San Andreas is coming to xbox this month you tard, even though thats an insult to the intelligence of tards.

People bragging about how good the 360 is are hypocrites. The Microsoft press conference had absolutely nothing, but a bunch of talk and pretty trailers. Even though the PS3 is coming out later then the 360 the SONY press conference showed real live time demos of what to expect for the next gen console. While the only thing Microsoft had was talk about reaching a billion people and how good there console was with just pretty trailers and no realtime demonstration of its features, is there some major problem with the Xbox 360 that they can't show real live demos! Who wants a console that will become obsolete within 3 to 6 months of its release, when SONY will redefine for ever what true high definition gaming is about and blow the Xbox 360 out of the water.

ps3 may have the best graphics, but graphics mean less than the quality of the games. Xbox 360 will have Halo 3 which shall chop sonys lead, but not over take it. Sony has enough good games and a big fan base for xbox to stop. Nintendo will stink because they are stuck in the past and won't appeal to any new gamers over 10

Seriously though, X-Box 360 has its good points dont get me wrong, but focusing too much on the online aspect makes me think that Microsoft is trying to push the system to become more like its cousin the PC. Also it feels asthough they are doing it to suck more money out of the poor gamers of the world. I may be biast but im sticking with PS3 because its main purpose is and hopefully will stay GAMES. I guess we'll see in 2006-2007. NINTENDO REVOLUTION??!?!?!? I love the idea I'm going to buy the system just to play the games fromt he past 20 years. PS3 it top 4 me.

Hey guys, i have two systems (x box and gamecube) and the sweet thing about the revoultion is that it's going to be able to play every game ever made for nintendo. That includes starfox, all zeldas, super mario bros. and even the old duck hunt. It's going to be possible because youre going to download them onto discs so they can be playable I know that they're old, but without nintendo, we wouldn't have and x box or playstation. The Playstation is going to have more gamesas well as a bigger fan base, but i dont think that there going to be better than 360. I also heard that the 360 isn't going to be able to play the old games. They'll have to make the old ones again. They said that in a confrence at E3 by the way. The reason that ps3 is releasing it late is to do what happened to the dreamcast. Plain and simple. The price from what i heard is going to be $300 base and with the hard drive and controller, 400. I look at it like this both the 360 and ps3 are going to be good, it just that Sony is going to wait and see how the 360 does on the market and add features & any re-design as they see fit. It would be nice it the spec were secret and both units hit the market at the same time. Besides from the time the ps3 hit the market the 360 may have upgrades added to it for another release?

"People bragging about how good the 360 is are hypocrites. Who wants a console that will become obsolete within 3 to 6 months of its release, when SONY will redefine for ever what true high definition gaming is about and blow the Xbox 360 out of the water."

Sony has 0 playable demos as of right now. Microsoft has many more. Sony is making a big mistake releasing thier console late and over priced. I have both consoles and I play the xbox way more. The X360 may not out sell the PS but just because the volkswagen beetle is the most sold car does not mean its the best car.

The farther this things go the more they seem to turn into a normal pc with a controller. With live gaming in high demand what are the chances of getting a virus on these things? It happened for smart phones so I'm just curious if its likely to happen to game consoles.

"Too bad Windows doesn't support PPCs, or else I'd buy one to hack it and use as a nice PC for $300."

The XBox 360 can run old XBox games and the old games used the Pentium 3 processor.

In order for the XBox to run the old games it has to have on of two things (a) a software converter to convert the old XBox games in Wintel format to the PPC format or (b) a Power PC chip specially designed to run the Wintel code.

I'm betting it is the latter as the former would require a lot of processing power (not that it doesn't have enough) and the game designers have to code the games differently Also, why haven't we seen the PPC chip on Macs yet? Because it probably only runs Wintel code

OK, so Sony runs out the Gate with GT5, but Forza was so much better, especially for it's FIRST attempt in the industry. The second iteration should blow GT away completely, like a Vette sucking th doors off some rice.

My 360 is pre-ordered, and I will have mine at midnight the night it comes out. By co-incidence, my new HD-TV will appear that same day. Also, my employer can kiss off for a week or so.

Xbox 360 is adding a ton of functions; PS3 is adding a ton of functions Xbox is so fast that everything will load in the blink of an eye; PS3 is faster Xbox has Halo and will soon catch up with Final Fantasy. PS3 has the most games out of any system. XBOX is fully customizable with faceplates and unique user interfaces; Sony?s box looks pretty cool as well. Microsoft is a huge software conglomerate; Sony is a huge hardware conglomerate. Just so that you know the processing power between the two, though large wont be noticeable by humans. Only by electronic benchmarks will anyone know that one?s faster than the other. To say that one with ?rule? the other is just ignorance. It will be a pretty even fight. To say that one will ?die? out is incredibly ignorant considering both of them are owned by technology giants. To say that Nintendo ?sucks? is ignorant because they are the ones that popularized the console gaming industry and there will always be those people (weather you like it or not) who pay respect to the originator. Also incase you haven?t noticed, Nintendo is focusing on a younger audience, so perhaps most of you here aren?t in the age range of Nintendo. I do think its sad that with Sega gone as a console developer and Nintendo on the bottom of the market, the days of console companies are really over. Now you?re all just buying from these huge companies that are just interested in making the most powerful entertainment machine in the world. The fact is: all of these consoles are powerful enough to support another five years of gaming. All of the consoles have great new features all of the consoles have software coming out for them that will sell no matter what. I think it?s funny how people complain about either system when they both have problems. Yeah Xbox requires XP media center, but can PS3 hook up to regular XP or Media Center? The price on either of them? Ridiculous. No one should pay that much but everyone will. Tons of people will pay. $300? No problem. $400? Just let me get my checkbook. Money isn?t an issue. You?re all just arguing over personal preference. You can look at market figures and tell which one will sell more according to which one has a larger fan base and such, but that doesn?t ascertain which one is better. You can also talk about processing power, that certainly doesn?t matter past a point. You can talk about software and online abilities and you know it doesn?t matter past a point. I own every system from the Intelivsion and Atari to Xbox and PS2 and I?ve discovered that it?s all a matter of personal preference.

Yeah, I agree with the guy above me. There should be no reason at all for any new video game system to come out in the next 5-10 years because of the sheer power of all the systems that are comming out within the next year. All three are backwards compatible (although possibly not all X-Box games will be, but the important ones will, and that's enough. I don't want to play a lousy game like Fusion Frenzy on the next gen stuff, some stuff just isn't worth saving) Any atempt at releasing a new console should make us (the consumer) re-think our buying strategy, and realize we are all getting f'd over.

personally i hope that both the ps3 and xbox 360 do well in the markets. The last thing I want is for either one to dominate the market because then the console market would turn into what the pc operating system market is today and that is a monoply. Microsoft with windows has nothing to worry about with the lack of good completion in the operating system market so it keeps releaseign crap operating systems that haven't been properly tested like XP. If the 360 does end up dominating the market then microsoft wouldn't push innovation and progression in technology the way it is now. I want both systems to live and make money so that way both will push themselves to new levels to gaming. In the end we the gamers get better games and consoles through the competition of microsoft and sony than through the domination of a single system. So lets relax. Whatever your preference may be there both great systems. Also I hope the revolution does decent enough because it would be a shame to see nintendo who was the company that started home consoles in my eyes to fall. They did develop some fanastic games over the years.

I agree the Xbox 360 will be a great system and I'm going to buy it when it comes out,but from what i've read about all three new systems the PS3 is the most advanced system. On gamespot Epic president of Unreal fame said the PS3 was easy to develop for and game developers have been saying for some time the Ps3 is the most powerful system I don't know about you but when the developers speak i tend to listen and take heed.

For the people worried about cost neither Sony or microsoft are really worried about making a profit off of hardware, software is where they really make their money.since the Atari days new systems have debuted at 300$ I don't beleive that will change. As for game quality Only in the past year have more than handful of xbox games been considered good.Sony has been shipping good games since it's release.I'd like someone to name more than 10 exclusive xbox games that are really good and the PC counts. Kinda hard isn't it. now The PS2. you could name 30 without thinking hard. Before the only thing the xbox had over the PS2 was a built in HD faster hardware and a better online infastructure. With the Exception of maybe Xbox Live Sony has negated all of Micro's advantages and still has better games not to mention more choices.you do the math

Forza,Ninja Gaiden, Chronicles of Riddick RTBB, Unreal Campionship2 The Liandri Conflit,Crimson Skies,Panzer Dragoon Orta,Jade Empire,Halo2 any other good exclusives?PS2 Tekken Series,GT Series, Twisted Metal Black,God of War,Virtua Fighter series,Final Fantasy series, Jak series,Rachet and Clank series,Suikoden series,Rayman,Smackdown, Dark Cloud,Socom, Ace Combat, Zone of Enders, Champions of Norrath. The List goes on. For those who love the xbox and wouldn't touch a Sony System I suggest you pray that everyone at sony decides they don't like making money or good games. For now it looks Microsoft will have to be Robin to Sony's Batman for another 6-10 years unless nintendo pulls a fastball then they'll end up as Batgirl. No offense Ladies :)

People should be more objective when comparing these systems then instead of being fanboys(or girls) they'd be well informed consumers and even if you have your favorites Sony didn't sell 90 million PS2's for nothing and don't blame their head start they had only sold 3 million before the xbox came out ouch.

the real deal. The new nintendo will have the weekest graphics power but the controller will be unique and the system affordable. The xbox and ps3 will have very similiar chips because the same companies are building them, expect to spend a lot of money. The ps3 will win for power. It also will feature dual diplays. The 360 will have a lot of great looking games because microsoft has set standards for all the games, HD, surround sound, etc. Sony games my not look all that great until developers get used to it. xbox 360 will rule the online game arena. If you like nintendo, you will be happy with the games and system.

I think it is funny how the PS3 is built so much around floating point performance when very little of that is handled by the CPU (it is now usually the domain of the GPU). Also, does it matter how much info. your system can crunch if it's bandwidth is so small it won't make a difference anyway (sorry, PS3)? On the other hand, Sony is an advertising machine with a large game library and huge fan base, and that is precisely why it will still make great sales. But, if you value overall system performance over the choice of 1,000+ games (many of which probably suck anyway), just by the XBox 360.

Xbox 360 is definantly the better contender it has an ati graphics card, removeable hard drive, halo 3 and built in wireless controler ports. the only thing ps3 has going for them is killzone 2 evan then the first one didn't come close to the origonal halo so what makes you ps3 fans thimk the 2nd will do any better. not to mention the new xbox controlers skick to the faithful s design. these ps3 controlers look like boomerangs very gay. if any serious gamer wants the best console get the xbox 360 you will not regret.

Xbox Bad:

Only 4 Wireless ports
Some weaker components
Only can switch the frontplate
Memory input on front

PS3 Good:

7 Wireless Controller ports
Good Game Lineup
Online Compatibility
HD quality
Supports New CD types

PS3 Bad:

I have to say a few things.

The single core cell processor of the does seem to have some nice features. And in the PS3's corner I would have to say that its 2 Tflops of floating point computations is a nice touch. However, this is not practicle for a gaming system. Combine that with the fact that it will only be using 7 of the 9 processing units on the core (not to mention the fact that the core will have to use the same memory bus for each processor unit), and the limitations of each unit's memory usage, I think you will find that it's general processing power pails in comparison to the Xbox360.

360 has a triple hyperthreaded core. That means that each core has 2 cpu's and each core would by default have individual memory bus'. What does this mean? Faster execution. Even if it only has 6 processing units (compared to the 7 of the PS3), it will still be able to utilize 3 bus's to execute it's instructions. 1 TFLOP of floating point execution is more than enough for any console for the next 3 years.

The graphics seem to be on par with each other though. even though the ps3 nvidia runs 50MHz faster than the ATI for 360, the ATI chip deals with MSAA much much better, runs cooler AND with ATI's mastery chipset features, the ATI GPU will outperform the Nvidia GPU (but just slightly).

The ps3 does have a 2 things that I can think of that may be the factor in decisions. Bluetooth (enable 7 controllers instead of 4) and it's 1080p feature for HDTV (but how many people really have 1080p on their TV's?).

Last I heard, the PS3's HD was TBA... So i don't know where the data is on it's size. BUT having said that, the 360's HD is UPGRADEABLE, should you need it. This is truely a good thing.

The PS3 games will be like the ps2 in quality game play. Very poor. Xbox has had good innovative games, but sony seems to be making the same game over and over again, and giving it new graphics and a new name. No wonder it has so many titles.

In the end, my vote is for the 360. It will run faster, cooler, and have better graphics. And it will have quake 4 :D

Power is not everything. You could have the best of everything but still have crappy games *im not pointing at anything*. At the same time you could have a crappy system but have the best games *ie N64 w/ Zelda*. I will be buying an Xbox 360 for H3 and any other game I would like. To me, the PS3 is just going to run VERY hot with 7 cores on a single chip. Anywase wtf are you goign to use a terraflop and a half of floating points for?!?

In conclusion, buy what you want but I will be buying a X360 *and the new Revolution, I make a point of buying every other Nintendo council, NES N64, and now the Revolution(who hoo! backwards capabilities with all Nintendo games... MORE THAN THE PS3!)*

aight for everyones clarity. PS3: better processing/graphics. 360: more online options, online gaming is going to be free, gold membership will cost extra but it won't matter for quality of gaming. Second PS3 has 8, 1 terabyte threads Xbox has 3, 1.8 threads. So its actually 5.4 to 8, not 3 to 8. Thirdly, nobody from sony can boast they sold more games, xbox sold more games and had better overall sales. Why? Mostly because they produced better games Halo, Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Counter-Strike. If Xbox 360 manages to clinch the market before PS3 then it will have alot of trouble catching up. Yes PS2 had more games and a wider variety, but 3/4 of them blew. Spyro? Crash Bandawhatever? 9 million racing games. And sidenote on the Killzone 2 demo, Sony has neither denied or confirmed if it was prerendered or actual gameplay, so basically their silence is saying prerendered, which graphics like those are similar to dead or alive 3 cut scene graphics from the first Xbox. Last and not least XBox 360 is boasting a massive array of games for launch or soon after launch titles, and many people are unwilling to buy two systems and due to the greed of todays society, unwilling to wait. And to the guy that said the PSP rules. Yeah sure right, thats why sales are terrible and they are Sony knows it. Read it on CNN. Im not denying the PS3 will not be a better machine, but timing, software, online universe might leave PS3 down. Not to mention the highest selling game of all time (Halo 2)'s sequel is rumored to come out the same day as the PS3. I seem to remember mobs of people waiting outside of stores for hours to get one. A million copies in a week or something like that.
I enjoy Nintendo as well. Its affordable and though most of its games are geared toward younger audiences, games like Super Smash Brothers and Resident Evil 4 appeal to the older gaming crowd as well.

Ok ok rant on peeps...fact is wall street (the vegas oddsmakers in this area) are calling for XBOX 360 to capture 32% of the next gen market versus 18% with today xbox. That's a joke - 360 is a lock down for at least half the market with all that's going for it - especially the long line of developers (including Japaneese) signed up. PS3 will win the war? maybe - but MS wins huge with a crappy 1/3 of the market. Timing and gamelineup is everything. PSP is learning that lesson hard atm - sorry Sony - you rocked in 2003 but forget the next 3 years.

I just setup a Pluto Home system (smarthome + media server, plutohome.com, free open source). It?s really cool. It has a streaming movie server, music server, pvr. Plus it does home automation and controls a/v equipment too. There?s only 1 problem?

You designate 1 PC to be the server; they call it the core. It exposes a network boot image for any other PC in the house, so your PC becomes dual purpose?normal pc, or net boot and it?s a set top box. You control it with Bluetooth mobile phones or web pads. And all the set top boxes in the house work together. Your media even follows you as you move from room to room if you keep the phone on. The problem is I don?t have enough media pc?s for all the rooms in my house, and buying a full PC for each room is too expensive. Plus there?s no video cards for the PC that have component video output?which is the only way I can get HDTV into my tv.

The X-Box seems perfect as a media director. It?s a PC inside, right? So why couldn?t it boot like normal as an Xbox, or net boot as a pluto media director? Then it would be part of a whole house solution that did everything. I could even use the Xbox to turn on my sprinklers if I wanted, and do all sorts of stuff with it. Plus, since Pluto gives it a network boot image, space is no longer an issue?all the software could be stored on the main server. And the XBox has component video and it?s quiet and cheap.

Does anybody have an idea if it would be possible to use the XBox as a media director like that, doing a network boot? Then I could just buy a few of the XBox?s rather than having to buy regular PC?s.

the 360 and Nintendo might be a close draw to which is better this time, but Sony is still gonna such (maybe not as much as last time) Me and my dad have combined all three systems and we haven't used the PS2 almost at all since we've had all three. THE GAMES JUST SUCK

halo 3 is going to hurt sony pretty bad. i heard they are going to release halo 3 when PS3 comes out.

personally i am definetley buying the xbox 360 when it comes out. i love halo, what else is there to say?

i really like how versatile my xbox is.... it does alot more stuff than the ps2! props to microsoft for that.

my biggest problem is disc read errors.... take note Microsoft/X-Box.... I DO NOT WANT DISC READ ERRORS AND I DONT WANT IT TO SCRATCH MY DISCS. other than that, i heart xbox.

P.S

Nintendo is for 8 yr old kids who can only get past the EASY setting on all games. oh, and nintendo wouldnt know a good game if it crawled up their a*r*s*e and forced them into orgasm.

If I only could buy one system between all three, it would be PS3 with XBOX 360 as a close second. Nintendo needs to do something about their controller situation, and im sorry Microsoft but HALO blows! Socom is where its at so shut your lips.

The PS3 does not exist yet. The only part of it that actually exists is the GPU which is below the standard of the 360 GPU. The processor kind of exists, but is still being worked on. The 8 core processor will only use 7 cores - this is because if one of the cores turns out to be faulty at manufacturing time, the chip can still be sold. SONY WILL BE SELLING FAULTY CHIPS!!! Sony's bus architecture on the motherboard is sub standard that of the 360. The Sony demo's at E3 were prerendered tech demos - they will only look like that in theory!! The demos for the 360 were run on a 360. Sony are getting themselves in deep shit over this one as they are making many promises that they can't live up to. Microsoft have shipped over 1000 developer kits to game developers, Sony have shipped 16 for the PS3.

Sony are phukked

you know what's super ghetto...Microsoft prices an xbox at $400 with all these fancy accessories...but has anyone ever thought how much people will have to spend on batteries for the wireless controllers? Oh...and who the hell is gonna carry around a massive hard drive to their friends house to play games? The whole xbox itself is a complete rip off and unknown to consumers, we're stupid enough to fall for all these "amazing graphics" that will probably be no better than the graphics on the original xbox games on hi def.

actually you can recharge the batterys via usb port on the back and continue playing, nifty eh? Microsoft knows whats going on they are not like sony.

Let me clarify that last one about battery recharge. There is a re-chargeable battery pack, which plugs into the controller to recharge the batteries while playing. Any time the batteries run low, a signal will appear on the screen indicating they're about to go, and so you can plug in the re-charger and continuously keep playing. Allard said that the in-box wires initially will be component/composite, using about five RCA jacks off one cord, with a switch to go either way, with AV packs like the current Xbox cables.

course Halo 3 wont come out on PS3, Microsoft aren't going to give up the best game they have yo there biggest rivals.

no-one in there right mind is going to buy the $300 360 and its beyond me why m$ bothered. i noticed with the last console the price was the same here in england so were gonna get screwed over at ?400. thats more than $600 dollars for fuck sake.

The PS3 will cost more as its got more expensive components.

U guyz R da dumbest stupidest Jackasses ever!!!!! PS3 ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! better graphics, better games, more power and better everything. The only avantage that xbox 360 has over PS3 is the memory and (maybe) the online play. Everything else, PS3 kills the xbox 360 at.

Sorry but you wont be able to play old xbox games on the new xbox360 because it is a PPC CPU based console.

Think of it as: Can I play Windows games on my Apple? Well no you cant unless the game is recoded in PPC format.

You will have to rebuy the 'recoded' old titles in order to play on the new xbox360.

How about you all grow up and shut up over who is better. They both will be great and you all know it. Just choose your system to tailer your style of playing , hand size for controller use and your style games. Both systems will have alot of the same games will small diffrences and both will have exclusive great games that will get awsome reviews. So you can have good fun with both. Only advantage either of them have over each other when you really talk about it is xbox will be first so that we can enjoy it earlier. But ps3 will have more time to refine and not make the same mistakes microsoft may in the launch. We will see.. :)
