You may already know that
PC World develops and tests with our own benchmark suite,
WorldBench 5. It is used to evaluate desktop, notebook, and tablet PCs--here are the most recent ranked charts where WorldBench 5 was used:
Top 15 Desktops (power PCs and value PCs),
Top Cheap PCs,
Top Entertainment PCs, and
Top 15 Notebook PCs(desktop replacements, all-purpose notebooks, and ultraportables).
WorldBench 5 includes a wide variety of real application-based tests, so we also use it in many other testing projects such as hard drives, motherboards, and so on. For example, the chart in the story
"Give Your Storage A Boost" uses three of the 13 WorldBench 5 tests (in conjuction with other lab tests) to test hard drives.
Another recent article called
"Tested: 64-Bit P4" uses WorldBench 5 to test performance with 64-bit Windows.
But
PC World isn't the only user of WorldBench 5. Here's a clutch of non-PC World Web sites that use our program for various testing projects of their own:
AnandTech,
hardCOREware,
HOTHardware,
[H]ard|OCP,
LostCircuits,
Overclockers.com Australia,
PC Perspective,
T-Break,
The Tech Report, and
X-bit Laboratories.
These sites cover many products similar to those you'll find reviewed by
PC World, but they do it from more of an enthusiast's perspective. Hope you enjoy them.
If you want more information about WorldBench 5, we've got it
