No word on its status with the British Board of Film Classification, which officially banned the game back in June, but the ESRB has downgraded Manhunt 2 from deadly Walmart-won't-stock-it AO (adults only) status, and given a "modified" version of the game the Mature-rated thumbs-up. You'll be able to get your hands on a copy in the U.S. come October 31.
Someone get me a finger-violin. For all the silly defensive bluster about a game that involves graphic decapitations, wire chokes, pulping faces with crowbars, and butchering other humans with machetes being "art," Rockstar has to be grinning lobe to lobe. Good press, bad press, it's still coverage, and you have to assume the game will probably hit higher day-one sales than it ever would've had it slipped unnoticed through the cracks of bureaucracy.

Art, I tell you! It's art! Why won't you listen mother?!?
