I could be wrong, but that's my guess for the title of Blizzard's rumored upcoming MMO, mainly because GOS ("gahs") is tons easier to pronounce than "universe of" ("yu-wahs") and less silly sounding than "macrocosmos of..." (go spongy green tree stuff!). Now if anyone can come up with a plausible synonym that begins with "b" on the other hand...
In case you missed it, last month GamePro reported that a StarCraft RTS sequel was possibly in the works, i.e. StarCraft 2. Everyone went a little bit nuts, prompting Blizzard to respond to press inquiries and state that they would in fact be divulging information about a new product at Worldwide Invitational 2007 on May 19th in South Korea, but that the company "[didn't] have anything new to announce in [regard to StarCraft] at present." The "present" of course being late April. The still-entirely-plausible-for-a-StarCraft-announcement future? Why May 19th, of course. Don't you love semantics?
Yesterday GamePro reported that:
"well placed US sources" have confirmed that the game, currently being referred to as Starcraft MMO, will be one of the highlights at the Worldwide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea -- a country which has long been the hub for the sci-fi RTS genre.
Chances of it being something else entirely? 50/50. But with a game like StarCraft which, since its release in 1998, has gone on to sell some 11 million copies worldwide...that we haven't seen a sequel in any capacity yet is frankly baffling.
The countdown's on. Place your bets.
