Oh, the irony. After decades of feuding over use of the Apple name, Apple (Computer) and Apple (Corps.) might end up on the same side of the fence. (Apple Corps. is the company that represents the Beatles' business interests.) Word from Fortune is that the Beatles catalog--currently unavailable digitally through any legal means--might end up on iTunes as an exclusive. According to Fortune, the deal is being brokered by the Fab Four's record label, EMI Group, and a bunch of details are still being ironed out, such as how long the iTunes exclusive might last, how much money Apple would invest in marketing, and even whether Beatles music could be used in a commercial. Of course, nothing's set in stone till we hear it from the horse's mouth. But here's hoping that you'll be able to fill up dad's new iPod with some Beatles tunes come holiday time.
