48 Degrees and Brewing

MSN Spot Coffeemaker scaled.jpgConvergence can sometimes go over the top. (Do you really need a TV in your fridge or iPod controls on your coat?) But anything that brings more functionality to our favorite gadget--our coffeemaker--is OK by me. The Melitta Smart Mill & Brew is the first coffeemaker to incorporate MSN Direct technology, Microsoft's wireless service that delivers information over FM radio signals (you've probably heard about it being used in watches). So not only does the Smart Mill & Brew deliver you your morning cup o' joe (it even grinds the beans!), but it also displays the current weather conditions, as well as the forecast for the day, chance of precipitation (so, like, 100 percent here in the Pacific Northwest), and the sunrise/sunset times. The Smart & Brew is available now from Amazon and Sharper Image for $200, and rightly so, the MSN Direct content is included in that price.
