The Bacteria Fightin' Logitech MX3200 Wireless Combo

So it's come to this. Now that every wireless keyboard/mouse combo looks pretty much like every other keyboard/mouse combo, manufacturers have had to start coming up with new ways to differentiate their products.

I'll admit that I couldn't have dreamed this one up: Logitech's MX3200 keyboard and mouse are coated in the AgION antimicrobial compound so that bacteria, mold and mildew won't take up residence. (This isn't an idle concern -- a 2004 University of Arizona study showed that the average keyboard had up to 3,295 microbes per square inch, compared to a mere 49 for toilet seats; but that's nothing compared to the 25,127 found on telephones.)

Given our seemingly unstoppable mania for disinfecting every last bit of our surroundings, the MX3200 will no doubt fly off the shelves. Just remember that in the end, it will be those of us with working immune systems who will rule the world, laughing from our awe-inspiring (and slightly grubby) palaces.

I like it! There are few things I hate more than a slimy mouse and a keyboard with squishy, gummy keys (ahem... one of my friends).
