Bluetooth Watch Bridges Your Phone and Headset

sony-ericsson-bluetooth-watch.jpgAlthough my wrist has been watch-free for quite a few years, I'm a sucker for a cool gadget watch. Well, usually. I mean, I like the idea of Sony Ericsson's recently released MBW-100 Bluetooth watch, which evokes the superspy vibe just in time for the new James Bond movie. (The watch's website even has a theme song that's somewhere between the Batman Beyond theme and a Bond soundtrack.) It just feels a little self-defeating to buy a new convenient gadget to bridge two others.

You bought that Bluetooth headset so you wouldn't be shackled to your phone, right? But when it rings, you have to fumble in your pocket/purse/knapsack for it, which just won't do when you're saving the world. The MBW-100 saves you the trouble by displaying the caller's number on its OLED display. If you can't take the call because you're busy dodging death traps or romancing femmes fatale, you can easily send the call straight to voice mail. If you use your Bluetooth headset for listening to music rather than getting new directives from headquarters, you can also use the watch to play, pause and switch tracks. The watch will be available later this year for $399. No one said national security came cheap.
