The Cheapest MP3 Player You've Ever Seen

dn-2000.jpgOur counterparts at Digital World Tokyo report that a company named Evergreen has released the DN-2000 Black, a 58x60x13 mm (about 2.5''x2.5''x.5''), 30 g MP3 player for the equivalent of $9.

The DN-2000 is about the barest-bones MP3 player imaginable. It has no internal memory, requiring an SD card of up to 1 GB (as I'm sure I'm not the only gadget freak with a few extra memory cards lying around, that isn't so troubling); plays only MP3s; and uses a USB 1.1 connection. The DN-2000 went on sale yesterday, and the retailer that DWT links to has already sold out, despite (because of?) the DN-2000's lack of frills.

Nine Dollars, you say? Well you get what you pay for! Lets hope that it doesn't fall apart after you use it once or twice! Also, I hope it doesn't have a tracking device!! Watch out for big Brother!! just kidding, I think it's cool for $9!

Great idea, but, if this device requires anything but AAA or AA bateries, (assuming the batteries are replacable), the replacement battery(s) probably will cost almost as much as the final player price. Have you priced lithium or button cell batteries lately!

They are not cheap.

Solar power anyone?

If they can make cheap solar power calculators, maybe.....

Best wishes to this product, it is a neat idea.
