If picture is worth a thousand words then a video must be worth millions. YouTube is utilizing its powers for good with a special program for nonprofit companies. Online activism and support has been growing recently as a part of many networking communities such as Myspace and Facebook. YouTube has instated ?Broadcast Your Cause? for nonprofit organizations to extend their ability to reach people visually about their cause. The packages include premium branding abilities, greater uploading capacity along with a spot in the featured video areas displayed across it?s website. The nonprofit account also gives nonprofit organizations the ability to receive contributions through a donate button powered by Google Checkout.
Some nonprofit organizations already participating in YouTube?s nonprofit program are the American Cancer Society, the March of Dimes, Autism Speaks, Friends of the Earth, 24 Hours for Darfur and more. The first 300 nonprofit companies to sign up will receive a video camera from Pure Digital or a digital camera from Casio. Nonprofit organizations in the US are defined as having a 501(c)(3) tax status. YouTube plans to bring more focus to the issues by creating a special category for nonprofit organization?s when more companies become available. Many nonprofit groups are currently being displayed on YouTube's main page.
